All ducklings go through a process called “assisted hatching”.
This process is necessary because more often than not, the Call ducklings bill and neck are so short that they can not externally pip on their own.
It is at this stage that I intervene and begin maintenance every 4 hours day and night until the duckling is completely free of the egg.
This maintenance consists of basting the internal membrane with water and vaseline to keep the blood vessel full and moist while the duckling soaks up the rest of the egg’s nutrients.
This process takes approximately 2-4 days.
In all, from incubation to hatch your order will take 24-28 days to hatch.
Minimum order is 4 as Call Ducks have a low hatch success rate, and it is illegal to sell only one duckling in the state of California.
If less ducklings hatched than what you ordered a refund will be issued for the eggs that did not hatch.

If your plan is to integrate them into your pre-existing flock, these boys are not strong enough defend themselves against adult drakes.
They are the age equivalent of a 13 year old human boys so please protect them.

Juvenile ducks have only slept indoors, so if they are going right outside when they get to their new home know they’ll probably be pretty scared at first.
Colors of males stays consistent through seasonal molts, which is the same as a male mallard.

Their orange color is captured well in my photos as seen by the naked eye, they are just that stunning.
These springtails consume the same decomposing matter the white ones do, however, they behave a bit differently.
Florida Orange Springtails don't jump, but rather stay on the ground and maybe fall off a dirt mound if they want to flee quickly.
Care:
I keep mine in a tub with holes for ventilation at an ambient temperature of around 78F-82F and have learned they like gradient levels of moisture inside their enclosure.
The springtails became prolific when I used a small glass dish in the center of their substrate (BioDude Terra Sahara and coco core).
I filled the dish loosely with sphagnum moss so it sprawled out of the dish and onto the substrate.
This creates a "ladder" for the springtails to enter and exit the dish
Wet that area liberally but do not leave standing water in the dish.
Favorite food is fish flakes.
Do not add too many or the flakes can mold before they can be eaten.
These springtails will climb the walls of the tub if condensation gathers so keep the humidity under control.
Check them daily.
Be sure they are eating.
Be sure to gently spray the moss with water with a mister.
